About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our Kubernetes infrastructure organization at New Relic. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining the backend infrastructure for deploying and maintaining hundreds of Kubernetes clusters that host our applications on the multi-cloud platform of Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google GCP.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design, build, and maintain Go clients and projects, as well as their support tools, to ensure seamless deployment and management of our applications.
  2. Contribute to the development and management of New Relic's infrastructure, leveraging your expertise in containerization tools like Kubernetes, Istio, Cluster API, and Crossplane.
  3. Collaborate with our team to discuss and implement service improvements, research new tools and services, and solve sophisticated problems effectively.
  4. Work in an agile environment with a DevOps approach, participating in second-layer support rotations and contributing to the maintenance of our software.

Requirements:

  1. 4+ years of professional experience in software development and/or operations.
  2. BS/MS in Computer Science or a relevant field.
  3. Hands-on experience coding in programming languages such as Golang, Java, Python, or Bash.
  4. 4+ years of experience with containerization tools, including Kubernetes, Istio, Cluster API, and Crossplane.
  5. Solid background in application and system programming, as well as Linux system administration.
  6. Involvement in building Infrastructure as Code (IAC).
  7. Ability to learn new coding languages and adapt to new technologies.
  8. Deep understanding of security, reliability, performance, and cost-effectiveness of distributed systems on public cloud providers like Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google GCP.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience working with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools such as Jenkins, Ansible, Travis CI, and Circle CI.
  2. API design and development exposure with Go programming language.
  3. Experience in cloud technologies like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  4. Solid understanding of the Linux operating system and concepts such as virtual machines and containers.
  5. Active participation in open source development.
