The Senior Analyst for Middle Office Operations is responsible for monitoring and interpreting economic performance metrics and market risks associated with Repsol's European Natural Gas and LNG trading activities.

This position is ideal for an experienced professional with a robust background in both physical and financial gas and power trading, who is eager to contribute to the development of an expanding trading business. The successful candidate will be proactive, possess strong analytical skills, and have a hands-on approach.

Key Responsibilities:

The Senior Analyst will primarily focus on:

  • Producing timely and precise daily and month-end profit and loss reports along with market risk exposure assessments.
  • Executing trade controls and collaborating with traders regarding market risk and valuation changes of physical and derivative trading positions.
  • Reviewing contracts and working with traders to ensure accurate risk capture and valuation of trades within an ETRM system.
  • Defining new valuation methodologies and enhancing existing ones.
  • Assisting in the implementation of new and modified methodologies in Repsol's systems, including providing business requirements and conducting user acceptance testing, as well as supporting functional design and hands-on implementation.
  • Engaging in communication and dialogue with other business areas (Front Office, Back Office, Process Support, Accounting, Corporate Risk, Contracts).
  • Supporting regular and ad-hoc reporting related to Repsol's European Gas and LNG trading activities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a quantitative field, preferably in Mathematics, Engineering, Finance, or Business.
  • 5+ years of experience in an energy-commodities trading environment, with a similar role strongly preferred, including an understanding of market risk concepts.
  • Exceptional ability to gather, analyze, and synthesize information.
  • Technical proficiency in designing, developing, and maintaining analysis and simulation tools.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving and data analysis skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with ETRM systems (e.g., Allegro) and prior experience with quantitative risk tools (e.g., FEA, Lacima).
  • Strong commercial values and a proven track record in value creation, collaboration, compliance, risk management, and business ethics.
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in MS Excel, VBA, and/or SQL.
  • Technical expertise in risk modeling, developing risk models, and analyzing structured transactions.
  • Experience with the Allegro ETRM system.
