Cloud Engineer Job Description

CARTO is seeking a skilled Cloud Engineer to join our Engineering team. As a Cloud Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud-based infrastructure for our customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with customers and the Solution Engineering team to define cloud architectures for deploying solutions.
  • Identify customer infrastructure needs and implement CI/CD and cloud infrastructure for custom solutions.
  • Write IaC (Infrastructure as Code) using Terraform.
  • Adhere to security best practices and implement processes according to industry standards.
  • Develop new tools to enhance services for both internal teams and clients.
  • Provide support to other teams.
  • Proactively perform any improvements or refactoring to enhance our infrastructure.
Requirements:
  • Some experience with cloud security terms: IAM, VPC, IAP.
  • Expertise with Terraform, or any other IaC tool.
  • Familiar with cloud providers. CARTO mainly works with GCP, but any other expertise with other cloud providers is more than welcome.
  • Linux knowledge (containers, systemd, signals...).
  • Debugging mindset and eager to fix issues.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, HELM charts and Docker.
  • Development skills and a good database knowledge (PostgreSQL is a plus).
  • Very good communication skills, both conversation and written, as well as a good English level.
