About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Food Safety Specialist to collaborate closely with multiple clients and stakeholders on our 'Food Safety Project' in Iberia.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance, with a proven track record of developing and implementing effective food safety programs.

Responsibilities
  • Aiding investigations for food safety related customer complaints.
  • Actively promoting and delivering training internally to customers ensuring that end-product quality and food safety competence meet required levels.
  • Investigating potential contamination issues, which may result in product contamination, reduced shelf-life, or customer complaints or rejection of products.
  • Responsible for Food Safety documentation research, preparation, review and revisions.
  • Assisting with vendor and distribution center visits, production runs, and food safety audits as needed.
  • Supporting Customer Service and other departments with any technical, quality, public health, or food safety issues and questions.
Projects & R&D studies

The successful candidate will work closely with the researchers to develop lab experimental design and test plans, conduct lab experiments, and collate and report test results.

They will also participate in- and/or contribute to the definition, planning and coordination of food safety and meat quality projects, and ensure execution and delivery in order to realize the projects within agreed parameters.

Networking and external relations

The ideal candidate will maintain contacts with Nutreco R&D centers, and other Business units within Nutreco.

They will also organize / coordinate projects and collaborations with universities and technological centers, and liaise with schools and other educational institutions regarding potential trainees.

Compliance / Quality Assurance

The successful candidate will assure compliance with internal and external standards like ISO9001 and ISO17025.

They will prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the laboratory and ensure proper documentation of knowledge in rules, procedures, work instructions and manuals.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Vet, Biology, Chemistry or similar.
  • Master's in Food Safety would be desirable.
  • At least 3-4 years of previous experience in a similar role.
  • Experience working on different projects and managing multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to work fluently in both languages Spanish and English.
  • Willing to learn, collaborative and curious.
