About the Role:

Nutreco is seeking a highly skilled Food Safety Specialist to join our team in Iberia. As a key member of our Food Safety Project, you will collaborate closely with multiple clients and stakeholders to develop targeted research programs and enhance the services provided to our clients.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food safety, with a bachelor's degree in a relevant field and at least 3-4 years of experience in a similar role. You will be responsible for optimizing and innovating food safety processes, promoting and delivering training, and investigating potential contamination issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Optimization and innovation: Aiding investigations for food safety related customer complaints.
  • Actively promote and deliver training internally to customers ensuring that end-product quality and food safety competence meet required levels.
  • Investigate potential contamination issues, which may result in product contamination, reduced shelf-life, or customer complaints or rejection of products.
  • Responsible for Food Safety documentation research, preparation, review and revisions.
  • Assist with vendor and distribution center visits, production runs, and food safety audits as needed.
  • Supports Customer Service and other departments with any technical, quality, public health, or food safety issues and questions.

Projects & R&D studies:

  • Works closely with the researchers to develop lab experimental design and test plans. Conducts lab experiments according to the test plan, collate and report test results.
  • Participates in- and/or contributes to the definition, planning and coordination of food safety and meat quality projects, and ensures execution and delivery in order to realize the projects within agreed parameters.
  • Initiates, supports and advises on service projects for B2F, B2B, production and external organizations.

Networking and external relations:

  • Maintains contacts with Nutreco R&D centers, and other Business units within Nutreco.
  • Organizes / coordinates projects and collaborations with universities and technological centers.
  • Liaises with schools and other educational institutions regarding potential trainees.

Compliance / Quality Assurance:

  • Assures compliance with internal and external standards like ISO9001 and ISO17025.
  • Prepares Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the laboratory and ensures proper documentation of knowledge in rules, procedures, work instructions and manuals.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Vet, Biology, Chemistry or similar.
  • Master's in Food Safety would be desirable.
  • At least 3-4 years of previous experience in a similar role.
  • Experience working on different projects and managing multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to work fluently in both languages Spanish and English.
