R&D Engineer for Power Transformers: Innovate and Lead

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled R&D Engineer to join our team at HITACHI ENERGY SPAIN, S.A.U. as part of our Technology Center South Europe. As a key member of our R&D team, you will contribute to the execution of projects involving diverse simulation types in power transformers.

Your Responsibilities

  • Develop and propose new technologies, products, and processes for both core and shell type transformers.
  • Lead and manage R&D projects, ensuring timely, budget-friendly, and high-quality execution in line with HITACHI ENERGY internal standards and processes.
  • Maintain and develop technical standards and design tools for transformers.
  • Transfer knowledge and findings through reports, specifications, and educational programs.
  • Assess production processes and identify areas for improvement.
  • Support factories in troubleshooting and provide expertise.
  • Develop and expand relationships with stakeholders, internal functions, Corporate Research Centers, and external parties.
  • Embody HITACHI ENERGY's core values of safety and integrity.

Your Background

  • We require a Master's or PhD in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
  • More than 3 years of experience in R&D projects, engineering, or University research.
  • Proficiency in CAD modeling software (CREO, Solidworks, Solidedge).
  • Experience with advanced numerical simulations and commercial tools (Ansys, Fluents, CREO).
  • Knowledge of 3D printing techniques.
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • A structured, problem-solving approach.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Spirit of innovation and out-of-the-box thinking.
  • Fluent spoken and written English and Spanish.
