The Institut de Ciències del Mar (ICM) of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) is a leading research institute in marine science, recognized for its excellence and commitment to creating social impact. As a pre-doctoral researcher on the INDICiOS project, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team working on a groundbreaking eco-evolutionary model to understand the history of marine biodiversity.
Key Responsibilities- Refine existing eco-evolutionary models by incorporating speciation and extinction rates and implementing Bayesian calibration techniques.
- Reconstruct the history of the diversification of marine invertebrates, mapping the emergence, evolution, and demise of biodiversity hotspots.
- Test hypotheses about the mechanisms underlying the origins and dynamics of the latitudinal biodiversity gradient and biodiversity hotspots.
You will join a team of world-renowned researchers, including project PIs Pedro Cermeno and Sergio Vallina, model developer Carmen Garcia-Comas, and external collaborators Michael Benton, Lewis Jones, and Alexandre Pohl. Together, you will work on a project that will revolutionize our understanding of marine biodiversity.
