The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is seeking a highly skilled Research Data Management Specialist to join our Scientific IT (SIT) Team. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in optimizing data workflows, ensuring data integrity, and supporting researchers in harnessing the full potential of their data.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement data management strategies to facilitate efficient handling, storage, and analysis of scientific research data produced at the CRG.
- Collaborate with researchers to understand their data requirements and provide guidance on best practices for data collection, storage, and documentation while promoting the FAIR principles.
- Help to design and maintain databases, ensuring data security, accessibility, and compliance with relevant regulations.
- Collaborate with the Strategy and Funding Department to formulate budgetary allocations for research proposal data management plans.
- Stay current with industry trends and advancements in scientific data management to continuously improve processes.
- Train researchers on data management tools and best practices, fostering a FAIR data-driven culture within the organization.
- Collaborate with IT and other departments to integrate data management solutions into existing systems.
- Scientific background with experience working with large and diverse data sets within a research environment.
- Project management experience in Scientific Research.
- Knowledge and experience of open science with a specific emphasis on compliance with European research data management regulations.
- Knowledge in defining and managing scientific metadata and ontologies.
- Proven experience with iRODS, OMERO, or other data management systems.
- Knowledge and experience of semantic web technologies.
- Scripting ability, ideally in Python.
- Experience using Linux including bash terminal.
- Experience using a computational cluster using a batch scheduler (e.g., slurm, grid engine, etc.).
- Open-ended technical and scientific activities contract linked to Scientific IT unit activity.
- Estimated annual gross salary: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and consistent with our pay scales.
