Job Summary

A Structural Integrity and Health Monitoring Engineer position has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in Getafe. The successful candidate will be part of the Structural Integrity and Health Monitoring (SHM) team, primarily focusing on tactical and transport aircraft.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support the design of SHM for new and existing aircraft.
  • Contribute to certification and qualification activities regarding SHM.
  • Support the arrangement, validation, and processing of raw data.
  • Perform regular usage monitoring reports and presentations.
  • Regularly assess fatigue and present results to the customer, making decisions for fleet maintenance actions and recommendations.
  • Investigate special events, such as hard landings and load exceedances.
  • Improve and validate software tools to support SHM activities.
  • Develop new functionalities and improvements in software based on customer requirements.
  • Establish standards for replacement of non-monitored flights, information management, etc.
  • Define pilot locations in the airframe structure to be monitored for SHM.
  • Perform load spectra, fatigue, and crack growth analysis for pilot monitoring locations.
  • Define and support tests for strain gauge calibration.
  • Support the Chief Engineers Office for product development tasks, production, and in-service issues related to SHM.

Required Profile
  • Degree in Aerospace Engineering or Industrial Engineering (Mechanical).
  • 3 to 5 years of professional experience as Engineer on structures analysis (SHM or Fatigue & Damage Tolerance field).
  • Deep knowledge of aircraft structures design.
  • Desirable programming background (Python).
  • Fluent in writing and spoken English.
