Postdoctoral Position in Thermal Sensors and Microbolometers
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced postdoctoral researcher to join our team at Quantum Flagship. The successful candidate will be part of our Functional Optoelectronic Nanomaterials group, led by Prof. Dr. Gerasimos Konstantatos, and will contribute to the development of highly performant, CMOS compatible, thermal sensor and microbolometer technology.
About the Project
The project aims to revolutionize thermal imaging technologies for automotive, safety, and surveillance by developing a new microbolometer technology. The candidate will be responsible for the fabrication, characterization, and modeling of thermal detectors, ideally microbolometers, using TCAD software and cleanroom microfabrication techniques.
Requirements
- Hold an internationally-recognized Ph.D.-equivalent degree (or evidence of its completion in the nearest future) preferably in Physics or Electrical Engineering
- Demonstrated experience and hands-on expertise on the fabrication, characterization, and modeling of thermal detectors, ideally microbolometers
- Proficiency in optoelectronic characterization of thermal sensors, including electronic transport, responsivity, noise, response speed, etc.
- Knowledge of read-out electronic circuitry schemes for bolometers
- Experience on design, optical modeling, and fabrication of photonic structures in the LWIR for thermal sensing (a plus)
What We Offer

Salaries for ICFO Postdoctoral positions are assigned by the Selection Committee, based on experience and seniority of the applicant, as well as the assigned tasks and responsibilities within the group. Standard salaries range from a lower level aligned with national Ramon-y-Cajal fellowships to higher levels aligned with Marie Sklodowska-Curie individual fellowships.
