Job Overview:

Amazon is seeking a highly skilled Tax Compliance Specialist to join our European VAT Compliance & Controllership team in Barcelona. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of VAT filings across various jurisdictions in Europe.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. VAT Registration and Compliance: Confirm the VAT registration and compliance status of third-party sellers on Amazon marketplaces.
  2. Transaction Data Management: Provide transactional and other data to tax authorities in respect of third-party sellers.
  3. Access Management: Manage and control access of third-party sellers to Amazon marketplaces based on VAT compliance status and requests from tax authorities.
  4. VAT Registration Support: Assist with VAT registrations across various jurisdictions.
  5. VAT Compliance Queries: Respond to VAT compliance queries from Amazon businesses operating across Europe.
  6. Audit Support: Provide internal and external audit support, including data analysis.
  7. Team Support: Provide support to colleagues throughout the business and, in particular, accounting groups.
  8. Cross-Functional Projects: Participate in cross-functional projects to improve VAT compliance processes.

Requirements:

  1. Education: Bachelor's degree.
  2. Technical Skills: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications.
  3. Professional Experience: Experience working in a large public accounting firm or multi-national corporate tax department.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Multi-National Experience: Work experience in a multi-national finance and/or VAT compliance function.
  2. Language Skills: Fluent verbal and written skills in Italian, German, or Spanish.
  3. Professional Certifications: Part of full professional tax or finance qualifications or similar credentials an advantage.
  4. Technical Background: Technical background and programming skills (SQL, VBA, Python, etc.).
