Key Responsibilities

As a Senior HPC Architect and Engineer, you will be responsible for driving the architecture and engineering of the HPC/scheduler configuration in partnership with the informatics team and business to optimize scientific workloads.

You will also be responsible for engineering tooling for reporting and observability, supporting consumers with a clear view of the performance of their jobs and the platform as a whole, developing statistics on platform usage by scientific business cases to ensure sound investment decisions.

Additionally, you will ensure the HPC architecture is fit for today's needs and tomorrow's, assessing appropriate new technologies in the area of scale out computing for scientific demands.

You will collaborate with Roche architecture and strategy teams to ensure the right balance of on-premise and cloud resources are considered for efficient platform operation.

Working as part of the global HPC team, you will create automation, identify training needs, and develop operational processes.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in computer science, systems analysis, or a related field

5+ years of hands-on experience in HPC scheduler knowledge, such as LSF, Slurm, or Gridengine

Knowledge of HPC cluster build and management tools

DevOps, Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Terraform)

Cloud technologies, infrastructure/platform as a service (AWS, Google, Azure)

Virtualization and containerization awareness

Good all-round Linux skills

Experience working in agile teams (SAFe/Scrum)

Strong collaboration and influencing skills with a proven ability to lead and inspire

Analytical, logical problem-resolution skills
