We are seeking a highly skilled Data Protection and Privacy Manager to join our General Counsel's Organisation (GCO) at American Express. As a key member of the Global Privacy and Data Law Group, you will report to the Vice President and Senior Counsel, EMEA Data Protection.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expert advice and support to the business on all aspects of data protection, privacy, and best practice, working closely with compliance and privacy operational teams.
- Support the Vice President and Senior Counsel in providing guidance on data protection and privacy matters across all business units, including Consumer, Merchant, Marketing, Digital, and the Colleague Experience Group.
- Advise on day-to-day data protection and privacy queries, including providing practical solutions to mitigate privacy risks.
- Draft and negotiate commercial agreements relating to data protection and privacy, including data processing agreements and international transfer agreements.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of data privacy related policies and guidance, including reviewing and drafting privacy notices and disclosures.
- Keep data protection and privacy templates and guidance documents/playbooks up to date.
- Stay up to date with proposed and actual changes to laws, regulations, and regulator guidance; assess their impact and advise relevant teams to ensure compliance with applicable laws and mitigate risk.
- Support data privacy training and awareness across the organization.
- Qualified to practice law in Spain or other European jurisdictions.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant data protection and privacy experience at a law firm and/or in-house.
