Postdoctoral Researcher Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team at EMBL Barcelona. The successful candidate will work on a project using human organoid models to understand how hypoxia, nicotine, and genetic perturbations influence the plasticity of pulmonary neuroendocrine cells and their susceptibility to cancer.

The project will involve international collaborations with clinicians and environmental epidemiologists as well as the generation and analysis of single cell -omics datasets. The successful candidate will be intrinsically motivated, lead their own project, contribute to other projects on a collaborative basis, and may guide PhD and Masters students in their research.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on human organoid models to understand the effects of hypoxia, nicotine, and genetic perturbations on pulmonary neuroendocrine cells.
  • Collaborate with clinicians and environmental epidemiologists to design and implement experiments.
  • Generate and analyze single cell -omics datasets to identify patterns and trends.
  • Lead their own project and contribute to other projects on a collaborative basis.
  • Guide PhD and Masters students in their research.

Requirements:

  • PhD and/or MD or equivalent doctoral degree.
  • Demonstration of expertise in the form of published paper(s) or preprints.
  • Strong practical skills in primary cell culture.
  • Knowledge of advanced gene editing techniques and CRISPR/Cas9-based screens.
  • Ability to prioritize, see the big picture, and focus on details.
  • Ability to work independently and quickly set up effective networks and working relationships.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
