About the Role
Our Compliance team underpins the long-term success of the business by ensuring our products and processes adhere to all regulatory and quality standard requirements.
As a part of this team, you'll use your expertise in compliance matters and eye for detail to ensure the best possible outcomes both internally and externally for our customers.
You'll work independently but also within a team, identifying regulatory obligations, associated risks, and suggesting controls to mitigate these risks.
Key Responsibilities
- Validating if regulatory obligations are mapped to existing controls for each set of regulations, and suggesting improvements where necessary.
- Analysing regulatory and legislative text to understand which specific obligations apply to a bank/financial institution.
- Verifying whether controls exist and are properly documented to meet regulatory requirements.
- Reviewing the quality and documentation of decisions made and deliverables created by Escalation officers, FinCrime SMEs, and Compliance Managers.
- Providing guidance and support to junior team members in conducting Quality Control checks.
- Mentoring less-experienced colleagues, helping them understand FinCrime processes.
- Providing well-informed recommendations for improving existing processes within 2LOD, ensuring alignment with best practices and a diligently documented governance structure.
- Paying meticulous attention to detail through reviewing work performed by FinCrime regulatory SMEs.
- Communicating observations and feedback from the reviews performed to stakeholders.
- Contributing to compliance processes and minimum standards by identifying opportunities for improved adherence to regulatory requirements and company standards.
- Maintaining and improving the methodology and adjusting the approach to future process changes.
Requirements
- Experience working in a Fintech, traditional financial institution, or regulatory body.
- 4+ years of experience working in a Financial Crime area across the three lines of defence.
- Experience in interpreting texts from laws or regulations, preferably Financial Services related ones.
- Demonstrated experience in reviewing and providing constructive feedback on the work of peers or team members.
- An ability to clearly communicate and detail risks and issues when reviewing previously completed work.
- Knowledge of the best practice FinCrime controls used in the industry.
- To be results-driven, pragmatic, and have a detail-oriented approach.
- An interest in compliance and willingness to deepen your knowledge.
- Fluency in English, mainly in legal vernacular, both written and spoken.
