Barcelona Marine Senior Surveyor Position

RINA is seeking a seasoned professional to fill the role of Barcelona Marine Senior Surveyor within its office in Barcelona in the Marine South-West Europe Region Division.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply expertise in maritime rules, regulations, and industry principles to ensure accuracy and quality of surveying processes.
  • Prepare technically accurate and timely reports of inspections and surveys performed.
  • Maintain survey files in an orderly and up-to-date manner.
  • Stay informed about new working methods and developments affecting the technical scope of assigned responsibilities.
  • Recommend new approaches to problems encountered.
  • Perform routine surveys on classed ships, platforms, or other marine structures for compliance with classification and statutory requirements.
  • Engage with clients to solve problems within area of expertise.

Requirements

  • Formal qualification in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or Marine Engineer.
  • 5 years of professional experience as a surveyor, owner superintendent, shipyard quality control inspector, or Chief Engineer.
  • Previous experience as a surveyor of IACS Classification Societies is a significant advantage.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, hazardous atmospheres, extreme temperatures, and weather conditions.
  • Willingness to travel frequently.
  • Practical and theoretical knowledge of hull, machinery, materials, equipment, and safety systems of ships.
  • Fluent in English language, both spoken and written.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work alone, in a team, and on tight schedules.
  • Ability to manage conflicts and negotiate.
  • Pro-active customer-focused approach.
