About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Dynamic Crash Impact Simulation Engineer to join our team at Importante Empresa. As a key member of our Advanced Numerical Simulation department, you will be responsible for developing and applying robust advanced solutions for non-linear finite element modelling, structural vulnerability, and advanced failure analysis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform numerical vulnerability (crash impact) analyses for all aircraft programs and research tasks using Abaqus/Explicit and/or 3DX.
  • Finite element modelling of aircraft structures and projectiles based on standardized methods, including nonlinear modelling of metallic and composite/sandwich materials and joints with damage and failure.
  • Generate detailed FE models based on CAD geometry input and verify vulnerability analysis simulation results.
  • Analyse structural integrity and state of damage, and perform test-simulation correlation.
  • Support Design, Stress, System, or Certification teams for any vulnerability issues, delivering design recommendations and justifying compliance with safety requirements.
  • Manage projects autonomously, including planning and specification of tasks with customers and regular reporting.
  • Coordinate and verify outsourced work (subcontractors and Airbus India).
  • Presentation of results to project and/or certification teams and documentation in technical reports.
  • Contribute to planning/specification and join impact test campaigns.
  • Contribute to methods and tools improvement and research activities of the Tech Centre in the framework of vulnerability or multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Contribute to diversification tasks by vulnerability studies in collaboration with other Airbus Business Units or external partners.
Requirements
  • University degree in aeronautical engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience in aircraft structure engineering.
  • Experience in numerical simulation of crash or impact with explicit FE software.
  • Strong knowledge of metallic and composite material and failure behaviour.
  • Experience with Abaqus/Explicit.
  • Knowledge of 3DExperience, Altair Hypermesh, and/or CATIA welcome.
  • Programming skills for tool developments welcome.
  • Subcontractors management skills.
  • Negotiation level of English.
  • Good communication skills (internally, with off-shore centre, externally).
  • Ability to work in a transnational, diverse team environment.
