**Job Overview**

We are seeking a highly skilled Regional Health and Safety Expert to join our team in EMEA Edge. As the ideal candidate, you will lead the implementation of health and safety standards and support our business partners to drive safety culture in the region.

The key aspects of this role include developing safety requirements and monitoring compliance, delivering safety training, conducting risk assessments, and carrying out audits in all related spaces across multiple jurisdictions. You will also advise, instruct, and train company personnel on safety policies and procedures, as well as assist the teams in incorporating and improving our safety standards.

This role will report to the Global Manager – Edge Safety and will involve extensive travel throughout Europe, Middle East, and Africa.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation of health and safety standards, policies, and practices, including safety management systems, training, risk assessments, industrial hygiene assessments, and applicable safety regulations.
  • Conduct health and safety audits of facilities to ensure compliance with health and safety requirements and life safety requirements.
  • Ensure compliance and implementation of global health and safety programs that exceed regulatory requirements.
  • Develop health and safety plans for emergencies, business continuity, and other unique events.
  • Maintain safety record keeping and data integrity.
  • Perform data trend analysis to present to business leadership to support business and safety initiatives.
  • Consult and partner with the AWS H&S Program team and Legal teams for interpretations and guidance.
  • Identify risks and partner with Operations and other stakeholders to mitigate them via the hierarchy of controls.

A Day in the Life:

You will work closely with experts in Security, Project expansion, Operations, Logistics, Compliance, and Corporate Counsel to further enhance our global health and safety program.

You will partner with employees as well as contractors to achieve health and safety goals and improve our already strong safety culture.

As we deploy new products and expand into new locations, you will partner with key stakeholders to ensure risks are identified and mitigated prior to live operations and then support the safe ongoing operation of these facilities.

You will work in a fast-paced environment where our operations are rapidly changing, advocating safe changes in the face of new infrastructure, new tools, and new processes.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Engineering, Health & Safety, or related field.
  • Years of field experience in Safety.
  • Experience in collaborating across multiple legal jurisdictions/countries in EMEA.
  • Knowledge of specific local health and safety regulations in the applicable region.
  • High ethical standards with proven ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information; excellent judgment, discretion, and diplomacy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presenting information to leadership within AWS.
