**Position Overview**
We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Specialist to oversee day-to-day payroll operations for our organization in Spain. Based in Madrid, you will be responsible for processing payrolls, consulting the HR and operations team on payroll rules and procedures, managing timesheets, consolidating project allocations, and maintaining payroll control records. This role requires attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. You will partner with our services entity in Spain to support payroll best practices and future projects throughout Europe.

**Responsibilities**
1. Process monthly payroll for a growing workforce in Spain, ensuring timely and accurate payments. 2. Liaise with local partners on payroll calculations, employee payments, and third-party payments to benefit providers. 3. Assist with time-keeping system implementation in Workday, serving as an expert on the system and helping employees and managers with questions. 4. Manage time-sheet collection and audit data within Workday, preparing project time allocations. 5. Partner with the business to propose and review recommendations for better managing working schedules, controlling overtime, and maintaining labor requirements. 6. Manage flexible benefits enrollments and changes. 7. Coordinate payment and reconciliation processes with accounting, auditing monthly, quarterly, and year-end payroll and tax reports, filings, and government notifications. 8. Manage shadow tax payroll processing and review local tax filings for US expatriates working abroad. 9. Review and authorize expatriate expenses, manage intercompany billing of expatriate costs. 10. Prepare training materials and conduct training sessions on local employment requirements and working hour rules, collaborating with departments such as HR, Accounting, and Treasury. 11. Ensure adherence to all local laws and compliance matters, preparing company work center registration details for new sites in different states or provinces. 12. Create and run reports as requested by internal parties (Workers Compensation, Accounting, Asset Management, Plant Manager, etc.). 13. Demonstrate high responsiveness to inquiries and requests from managers and employees, developing processes and procedures for the payroll function in accordance with business requirements. 14. Assist with discovering and implementing new payrolls within Europe, performing other duties and special projects as assigned.

**Required Skills and Qualifications**
High school diploma or equivalent required. 4+ years of Spanish payroll experience. Full professional proficiency (written and verbal) in English required; any additional language skills advantageous. Proven knowledge of Spain Labor Law, payroll concepts, practices, and procedures. Ability to partner with multiple vendors, strong analytical and mathematical skills. Familiarity with Excel and other Microsoft Office products necessary. Strong coordination and organization skills, with attention to deadlines and accuracy. Technical courage - ability to work with various HR tools (working knowledge of Workday preferred) and passion for numbers and data. Experience with expatriate payroll processing and multi-site, multi-entity, multi-CBA organization experience desirable.

**Estimated Salary Range: €45,000 - €60,000 per annum, depending on experience**
