Job Description

Hitachi is seeking a highly skilled Primary Project Technical Lead to join our team in Spain. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for driving excellence in the execution of Primary engineering activities for diverse High Voltage Substations, Power Quality, and Green Hydrogen projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design Authority: Lead and supervise all Primary (Electromechanical) engineering activities, ensuring the integrity, completeness, and correct function of the substation system.
  • Conceptual Design: Support and optimize conceptual designs, physical implementations of equipment, and take responsibility for functional arrangement of systems and components.
  • Electromechanical Calculations: Carry out and review electromechanical studies, including steel structure, insulation coordination, earthing grid, and lightning protection, for the feasibility and definition of projects at basic and detailed engineering level.
  • Technical Specifications: Prepare and review technical specifications and validate equipment.
  • 3D Design: Ensure 3D design/models, coordination of interferences, and resolution of clashes.
  • Coordination: Coordinate with Control and Protection systems, including single-line diagrams, schematics, cabling, etc.
  • Subcontractor Management: Review and supervise the electromechanical activity performed by external engineering subcontractors, manage subcontractor and project engineering progress, and issue technical reviews.
  • Primary Design: Take responsibility for all substation Primary design, calculation, and documentation.
  • Technical Recommendations: Make technical recommendations in the Primary design, engineering, and execution phases of customer projects.
  • Project Support: Support the Project Team with claims related to changes in the project Primary scope, including assessing cost and time impacts, as well as risk quantifications.
  • Proposal Preparation: Assist in preparing proposal/presentation of engineering projects, including layouts, BoQs, etc.
  • Work Planning: Create and deliver Primary scope-specific work planning, resource requirements, proposals, engineering estimates, and risk and opportunity analysis.
