About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Database Administrator to join our team at Ifs. As a key member of our Database Services Team, you will be responsible for the overall delivery of Oracle Database-related services for all applications within our IFS Cloud Suite.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Database Operations: You will be responsible for daily DB operations, following common and documented processes to support and maintain our Database services.
  2. DBA Support: You will act as a DBA resource to help perform daily duties and address issues with client systems.
  3. Issue Escalation: You will be the final point of escalation for challenging issues with our database services.
  4. Team Support: You will work with internal and external teams during investigations and corrective actions during problem management investigations.
  5. Product Improvement: You will work with R&D to provide guidance and feedback to improve the IFS product set in future releases.
  6. Backup Solutions: You will implement agreed backup solutions for the IFS Application suite to satisfy our own and our customers' needs.
  7. Performance Tuning: You will follow best practices and approaches to manage performance issues in our Cloud database environments.
  8. Disaster Recovery: You will implement and test regularly, in conjunction with the CSA and R&D teams, any agreed disaster recovery solutions.
  9. Monitoring: You will implement appropriate tooling to monitor and manage the database availability within our cloud database services.
  10. Automation and Tooling: You will work with the CSC, CSA, and Automation teams to automate and reduce time and overhead for common tasks.
  11. Training and Skills Transfer: You will deliver DBA knowledge transfer/training sessions to selected internal teams.
Requirements
  1. Mandatory: At least 2-3 years' experience performing Oracle Database administration functions in cloud computing or enterprise IT service delivery.
  2. Value Add: Experience in ITIL, ISO 20000 or a similar service delivery framework.
Desirable Skills
  1. Cloud Computing: Experience in cloud computing services or IT service delivery.
  2. Database Systems: Experience with Oracle databases (minimum 12c) on Linux and Windows operating systems.
  3. Performance Tuning: Good technical experience with performance tuning - AWR / ASH / ADDM / TKPROF / tracing sessions, etc in a multi-tier architecture.
  4. Database Administration: Good technical experience using OEM for various database administration purposes.
  5. Backup and Restore: Good technical experience with backup/restore RMAN, data pump export/import.
  6. Disaster Recovery: Knowledge of disaster recovery; dataguard setup and troubleshooting.
  7. Database Upgrades: Experience with database upgrades (12c to 19c and above) and patching.
  8. Cloud Technologies: Basic understanding of Cloud Technologies Azure, AWS or GCP.
Additional Useful Skills
  1. Database Systems: Knowledge of other database systems Azure SQL, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.
  2. Cloud Services: Microsoft Azure PaaS (App Services, SQL Database, Storage, Redis Cache, PostgreSQL), Event Hub, Automation, monitoring, Security Centre.
  3. Network Architectures: Network architectures, especially related to Microsoft Azure (vNets, NSGs, VPN, ExpressRoute, SSL/TLS certificates, DNS).
  4. DevOps Practices: Familiarity with DevOps Practices (Terraform, Chef and related tools), and how these are leveraged in design and operations to be able to deliver and support hundreds of instances seamlessly.
  5. Security Principles: Security principles (encryption, authentication, authorisation, integrity, auditing, pen testing etc.) and how these are applied in a cloud environment.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record working with a wide range of teams including operations, R&D, consulting and support services. They will work effectively in an internationally distributed, multi-discipline team and must be highly self-motivated and proactive, with excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
