Job Summary

Lumen is seeking a highly skilled Cloud Engineer to join our team and contribute to our multi-year journey to modernize and expand our cloud infrastructure. As a key member of our Cloud Center of Excellence, you will play a crucial role in shaping our cloud strategy and implementing best practices for secure foundational cloud implementations, automated provisioning of infrastructure and applications, and cloud-ready application architectures.

Main Responsibilities

  • Participate in meetings and conferences to gather requirements and discuss architectural decisions.
  • Apply a thorough understanding of deploying and managing application lifecycles to interpret customer business needs and processes.
  • Creating cloud-based infrastructure required by the software team in Azure and AWS.
  • Work in a CI/CD environment.
  • Refine, evangelize, and deliver on Lumen's multi-cloud operating model vision and strategy.
  • Partner in the delivery of cloud-based technical architectures, migration approaches, and application optimizations that enable business objectives.
  • Evolving and driving our automation capabilities by enabling a DevOps and SRE culture.
  • Hands-on technical lead to guide, mentor, and coach.

Requirements

  • English proficiency (C1/C2).
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Information Systems or related field or the equivalent in training and experience.
  • 4+ years' experience designing, building, and deploying scalable cloud-based solutions in Azure and AWS.
  • 4+ years' experience in combined roles of cloud engineer, infrastructure engineer, DevOps engineering, SRE or application development.
  • 3 years of scripting language development experience (BASH).
  • Expertise with automating infrastructure provisioning and/or continuous integration/delivery.
  • Experience one or more languages, such as Java, Python, Go, JavaScript, C++, Terraform, or similar.
  • Excellent experience in the application of cloud architectures and IT security principles.
