Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team in supporting a major client operating in the waste recycling sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and verifying operating machinery, developing plant layouts, and managing technical alignments with suppliers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Verification of Operating Machinery
    • Read and verify P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams) to ensure correct installation and functionality of mechanical equipment
    • Prepare detailed data sheets for operating machinery, specifying technical and operational parameters
  • Plant Layout and Piping Design
    • Define the plant layout, organizing the optimal arrangement of mechanical equipment and piping
    • Design piping routes in compliance with technical standards, operational specifications, and plant requirements
  • Technical Alignments and Supplier Management
    • Compare supplier offers and manage technical alignments to ensure compliance with technical specifications and company standards
    • Collaborate with colleagues and suppliers to gather and organize technical information necessary for the selection of machinery and definition of piping routes
  • Commissioning, Testing, and Start-up
    • Support the commissioning, testing, and start-up phases of installed machines
Requirements
  • Technical Skills
    • Advanced knowledge of the operating principles of machinery (centrifugal and volumetric pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, valves, etc.)
    • Ability to read and analyze P&IDs to assess the correct arrangement and functionality of equipment
    • Experience in defining plant layout and designing piping routes
    • Expertise in preparing technical data sheets for operating machinery
    • Experience in managing technical alignments between suppliers and the engineering team
    • Basic knowledge of fluid dynamics principles for the design and optimization of piping systems
  • Software Skills
    • Good knowledge of the Office suite (particularly Excel for managing technical information) and CAD software (preferably AutoCAD)
    • Familiarity with simulation or 3D modelling software for mechanical design, layout, and piping design
  • Language Skills
    • Fluent Italian and English
