Somma is seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to join our team as a PhD researcher in eco-evolutionary modelling. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on a cutting-edge project that aims to revolutionize our understanding of marine biodiversity.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and refine existing eco-evolutionary models to better understand the evolution of marine invertebrate diversity.
- Reconstruct the history of the diversification of marine invertebrates and identify biodiversity hotspots.
- Test hypotheses about the mechanisms underlying the origins and dynamics of the latitudinal biodiversity gradient and biodiversity hotspots.
- Contribute to scientific publications, presentations, and the development of a web application to visualize and share the project's findings.
Professional Experience
- Master's degree in mathematics, physics, biology, marine sciences, or related disciplines.
- Strong programming skills in R, Matlab, or Python.
Languages
- Fluent in English (both written and spoken).
We are offering a four-year contract to carry out a PhD thesis, with an estimated annual gross salary of €25,000. The contract includes flexible working hours and the possibility of teleworking up to 3 days a week. As a member of our team, you will have access to state-of-the-art research facilities and a collaborative and dynamic work environment.
