About the Role

We are seeking an experienced EHS Engineer to provide environmental, health, and safety leadership to our site. As a key member of our team, you will be accountable for supporting EHS activities, including EHS objectives and targets, internal reporting of EHS performance, and communicating national, area, and local regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage Site EHS Performance

Direct the development, maintenance, and achievement of EHS goals in support of corporate and division EHS strategic initiatives.

Facilitate Risk Assessment

Work with the leadership team to identify critical EHS hazards and aspects, and create targets and objectives based on key EHS risks.

Track Performance

Determine appropriate leading and lagging indicators to track performance against targets and objectives.

Support EHS Goals

Work with the leadership team to create EHS goals for the site manager and activity-based goals for the leadership team, functional managers, and front-line supervisors to drive EHS culture, compliance, and results.

Assign EHS Element Champions

Work to assign EHS element champions and facilitate their engagement in ownership of the EHS elements.

Drive Zero Incident Culture

Drive and promote a zero incident EHS culture throughout the site.

Facilitate EHS Engagement

Create and facilitate EHS engagement through EHS teams and committees needed to accomplish the established targets and objectives for the year.

Ensure Compliance

Work with the leadership team and EHS element champions to complete an annual evaluation of compliance for EHS country, state, and local regulations.

Pursue Recognition

Pursue third-party recognition for programs that establish the site and Tenneco's EHS program as world-class.

Manage EHS Data

Use established EHS data processes, such as AEGIS, to manage data such as injuries and illnesses, environmental metrics, risk assessments, EHS action items, and other pertinent information.

Create Training Matrices

Create training matrices to ensure that all training is defined and tracked to completion.

Ensure Operational Controls

Work with the site leadership team and facilities to ensure that all key EHS operational controls are in place, on a PM program, and that EHS action items are resolved on a timely basis.

Requirements
  1. Education

Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, or equivalent.

Experience

5+ years of experience with an emphasis in health and safety program management and employee training in an industrial environment.

Language

Fluent English.

Industry Knowledge

Comprehension of industry, state, and country EHS requirements.

Team-Building Skills

Strong team-building skills.

Organizational Skills

Strong organizational skills.

Data Management

Adept at utilizing company-wide systems for reporting EHS data and information.

Managerial Courage

Ability to demonstrate managerial courage, such as managing varied interests representing potential conflicts.

Leadership Skills

Ability to lead and support cross-functional EHS teams.
