About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Transmission Network Engineer to join our team at Colt Technology Services. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for proactively monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving faults across our pan-European Ethernet and optical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and troubleshoot faults across our network infrastructure, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption to our customers.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to resolve complex technical issues and improve network performance.
- Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of our network infrastructure, including optical and Ethernet-based technologies.
- Provide expert technical support to customers, ensuring their needs are met and exceeded.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of network upgrades and improvements, ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure.
- Participate in a 24/7 shift pattern, ensuring our network is always available and performing optimally.
Requirements
- Direct experience in transmission services and technologies, including Ethernet, WDM, DWDM, TDM, ADM, DCS, DXC, SDH, and PDH.
- Proven working experience with vendors such as Marconi, ALU, Lucent, Nortel, Nokia, NSN, Siemens, Overture, Adva, Infinera, Aspen, Netcool, Smarts, Ciena, and Accedian.
- Excellent knowledge of LAN-based products and network management systems, including Netcool, SMARTS, CiscoWorks, InfoVista, TACACS, and Vendor Specific Element Managers.
- Experience in working with global providers, NOC, and Field operators for technical issues.
- Fluent in English, with a second European language an advantage.
