Software Engineering Manager

At Apple Inc., we're seeking a seasoned Software Engineering Manager to lead our Applied Machine Learning Engineering team in the Software Localization department. As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for managing a diverse group of engineers who will work collaboratively across functions and globally to deliver cutting-edge ML tooling and end-user features for international locales.
About the Role
This is an exceptional opportunity to join our team and contribute to the development of innovative ML solutions that will shape the future of software localization. As the manager of the Applied ML Engineering team, you'll oversee the design, implementation, and qualification of ML localization features, processes, and tooling across various Apple products.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the exploration and application of Large Language Models (LLMs) in Apple product features and for performing translation tasks
- Translate the latest research into high-quality systems and models that can be practically applied to further improve machine translation or Apple product features
- Collaborate with translation, localization quality, project management, and engineering teams to develop and implement machine learning solutions
- Work cross-functionally with various software teams to analyze requirements, prioritize, and define goals, and then achieve them
Requirements
- Excellent communication and team leadership skills
- Proven track record of growing and developing people
- Extensive cross-functional project leadership and delivery experience
- Experience with Machine Learning (ML), with a particular emphasis on Large Language Models (LLMs) and Natural Language Processing (NLP)
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply cutting-edge research into consumer-oriented products
- Experience adapting pre-trained LLMs for downstream tasks
- Ability to manage a diverse team
- Self-motivated and proactive
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent context switching and changing priorities
