Postdoctoral Researcher in Public Opinion and Urban Mobility
Job Description:The Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) is seeking a highly qualified postdoctoral researcher to join the GEMOTT research group in the Geography Department. The successful candidate will play a key role in the ATRAPA project, which aims to address the "active travel backlash paradox" by identifying the factors that shape public opposition and acceptability towards Built Environment-based Sustainable Travel Interventions.
The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for designing and implementing large-scale surveys across 8 European cities to identify the personal, social, and contextual factors influencing public attitudes towards transformative urbanism interventions. The researcher will also co-supervise doctoral students and coordinate data analysis related to public opinion and urban mobility.
The ideal candidate will have a PhD in geography, social sciences, environmental sciences, political science, or economics, and expertise in survey design, public opinion research, statistical analysis, and proficiency in English. Additional European languages are a plus. The researcher should have a demonstrated track record in mobility research and collaborative project work.
The successful applicant will become a core member of the GEMOTT team and will be based at UAB's Geography Department. The position is fully funded for two years, and the salary is 43,000 € gross annual salary, with flexible work-time and 37.5 hours/week.
Responsibilities:- Develop a conceptual framework to investigate personal, social, and contextual factors influencing public acceptability and opposition to BESTI interventions.
- Design and implement large-scale geolocated public opinion surveys across 8 European cities, and conduct longitudinal analysis of survey responses to track changes in attitudes over time.
- Lead data analysis efforts to understand variations in public acceptability and opposition across different urban contexts, focusing on the determinants of individual attitudes toward urban mobility interventions.
- Academic record: PhD in geography, social sciences, or environmental sciences.
- Prior work on mobility and transportation topics.
- Academic excellence.
- Research experience and publications.
- Skills in GIS, Python, or R.
- Interdisciplinary and collaborative research experience.
