About the Role

As the Engineering Director of Community, you will play a pivotal role in driving growth and innovation across all engineering teams at Canonical. This is an exceptional opportunity to define the next generation of open source community engagement and processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with multiple distributed teams to establish and achieve community engagement goals.
  • Help engineering teams develop and implement high-quality community processes and engagement strategies.
  • Represent technical expertise and influence others to promote Ubuntu and related technologies.
  • Mentor others and provide cross-team input to drive community growth and innovation.
  • Work closely with the developer advocates and PR teams to promote Ubuntu and related technologies through various channels.
Requirements
  • A long history and clear public record of community engagement, particularly with open source communities.
  • Experience leading successful projects and teams.
  • Strong collaboration and influencing skills.
  • Ability to represent Canonical/Ubuntu externally.
  • BS/BA or equivalent in Computer Science, Technical Communication, English, or a related field.
