The Heising-Simons Foundation, a prominent philanthropic organization based in the San Francisco Bay Area, seeks an experienced Communications Officer to advance its mission and programmatic goals. With a strong track record of developing effective communication strategies and campaigns, this individual will play a vital role in shaping the Foundation's public image and reputation.
**Job Summary**
The Communications Officer will work closely with the Director of Communications and other team members to design and implement strategic communication approaches for various program areas. This includes leading implementation and management of communication tactics, providing critical thinking and support to advocacy work, and serving as a thought partner to program officers and grantees.
**Key Responsibilities**
* Proactively design and implement communication strategies that align with the Foundation's mission and program goals.* Manage multiple communications projects and initiatives concurrently, ensuring timely completion and high-quality results.* Provide exceptional written and verbal communication skills, translating complex concepts into digestible language for diverse audiences.* Collaborate with colleagues to develop and edit Foundation-written materials that promote transparency and achieve programmatic objectives.* Foster relationships with communications professionals, including consultants and partners, to leverage their expertise and resources.* Stay up-to-date with news and information related to the Foundation, its program areas, and grantees, identifying opportunities for strategic engagement.* Contribute to Foundation-wide committees, diversity, equity, and inclusion work, and internal culture-building efforts.
**Requirements**
* Excellent analytic and critical thinking skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop creative solutions.* Strong interpersonal skills, with experience fostering trust and building relationships across diverse stakeholders.* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively.* A successful track record in non-profit and/or advocacy communications, with relevant work experience or a related college degree.* Highly organized, creative, and flexible, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.* Technologically savvy, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and willingness to learn new tools and systems.* Sense of teamwork, community, humor, and integrity, with a passion for the Foundation's programmatic goals and values.
**Compensation and Benefits**
We offer a competitive salary range of $115,000-$125,000, commensurate with experience. Our comprehensive benefits package includes employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance, long-term disability, business travel, and life insurance.
