About the Role

NRL Group is seeking an experienced MCE Commissioning Lead to join our team. As a key member of our commissioning team, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful commissioning of wind turbines during Major Component Exchange (MCE) activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Commissioning Activities: Directly responsible for the MCE Site Commissioning activities from LOTO and de-energization of the turbine until Commissioning and return to Service (RTS).
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot Wind Turbine during MCE activities to assure lifting activities can be performed according to planning.
  • Document Review: Review and implement all applicable commissioning documents and processes and verify technical compliance during all phases of Wind Turbine commissioning.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Monitor compliance of the Commissioning test documents with a minimum of one daily visit to each of the onsite activities. Any Deviation from the mandatory daily verifications must be reviewed and authorized by the site manager.
  • Leadership Development: Evaluate, mentor and develop prospective Commissioning leads from within current field personnel base.
  • Communication: Attend weekly MCE Meetings and disseminate all information to subordinates at the site level, capturing Lessons Learned, driving design for commissioning ideas input and COPQ.
  • Resource Management: Ensures personnel have the necessary tools and procedures for work during Start Up & Commissioning.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure Job Site Books containing Commissioning checklists and inspections are 100% completed and accurate.
  • Collaboration: Interface with Engineering and COE's (Centers of Excellence as required to support project issues affecting Commissioning activities.
  • Procedure Review: Work with M&P Team to review and update procedures as required.
  • Safety Protocols: Adhere to and/or implement Safety Procedures/protocols issued to the site that affect his/her scope of responsibilities in accordance with the Wind EHS Outage Plan.
  • LOTO Process: Participates in LOTO process as required/directed.
  • Quality Compliance: Comply with all Quality Processes.
  • Commissioning Coordination: Coordinates daily commissioning activities on site. Effectively manage available site resources to ensure successful completion of the contractual obligations.
  • Task Assignment: Responsible for performing all tasks assigned by the MCE Lead Tech or Project Manager.
  • Continuous Improvement: Support Lean activities and continuous improvement actions.
  • Time Tracking: Track and control commissioning times.
  • Tool Maintenance: Responsible for maintaining assigned tooling in a responsible manner.
  • Technical Documentation: Utilize the ServiceNow system to document and request guidance for all technical issues or non-conformances. Ensures corrective action is taken to fix all problems that impact Turbine Completion.
  • Digital Tracking: Provides information for digital tracking tools, where required, as defined by communication Guideline.
Requirements
  • Education: Degree as qualified/certified electrical engineer/technician and bachelor's degree (or similar) in Electrical Eng.
  • Experience: Significant professional experience performing all aspects of Commissioning work at WTGs.
  • Training: Demonstrated skill set and experience as per GE training matrix for Commissioning (applies to internal candidates).
  • Physical Abilities: Ability and confidence to work at height (includes physical fitness to climb) as per G41 or similar standard.
  • Travel: Capable of working at remote sites in adverse weather conditions (heat, humidity, cold, wind, altitude). Ability and willingness to travel and work domestically and internationally as required.
  • Availability: Ability and willingness to work on weekends, public-vacation, shiftwork or on-call duty as required.
  • Driving License: Valid/clean driving license (EU class B, BE).
  • Language: English fluency, particularly with technical explanations (min. Level B2, C1 preferred).
  • Work Permit: Unrestricted EU work permit.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to work to tight deadlines whilst continuing to follow safety/quality guidelines.
  • Health and Safety: Competent in Health and Safety standards (EHS).
  • Leadership Skills: Analytic skills regarding technical tasks and processes, Leadership behavior, Humility, Transparency deliver with Focus.
