Senior Researcher on High-Resolution Modeling

Within the Barcelona Supercomputing Center's Earth Sciences Department, the climate prediction group focuses on improving climate prediction capabilities for various time scales and geographic areas. The team collaborates closely with the EC-Earth consortium to develop and use the global climate model.
The position involves contributing to the development of a new digital twin based on NEMO and IFS, its scientific validation, and related scientific activities. Key duties include contributing to the development of a new very high-resolution configuration, running production experiments, and analyzing the impact of increased resolution on ocean changes and their effects on land.
Requirements
- PhD in atmospheric science, applied mathematics, engineering, fluid dynamics, or a related field
- Postdoctoral experience and proven ability to prepare and submit manuscripts to peer-review journals
- Demonstrated ability to develop experimental setups addressing specific climate modeling problems
- Experience in ocean/atmosphere modeling and handling climate model output
- Programming skills, data analysis, and visualization software
- Experience with large datasets and NetCDF encoding
- HPC and parallel computing experience
