About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Space System Database Engineer to join our team at Starion Group. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the database systems that support our space-related projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Database Design and Development: Assist in analyzing user requirements and contribute to the design and modeling of archive databases and data models.
  • Database Administration: Build, develop, and maintain the archive data products databases, including DB administrative tasks.
  • System Integration: Design, develop, deploy, operate, and maintain any of the ESDC Science Archives and Virtual Observatory (VO) subsystems, including archive data ingestion and metadata extraction systems, archive application servers and middle tier services, and more.
  • Software Configuration Control: Perform software configuration control activities associated with archive development.
  • Testing and Quality Assurance: Conduct unit and system tests associated with archive development.
  • Documentation and Communication: Assist in preparing and maintaining essential documentation in accordance with engineering standards such as ECSS, and engage in working groups, workshops, conferences, and meetings focused on discussing science archives and virtual observatory standards and practices.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Master's degree in a relevant field, with at least 4 years of proven experience in database engineering and software development.
  • Technical Skills: Experience in varied RDBMS (PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL), familiarity with no-SQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, ClickHouse), competence in SQL and XML, and proficiency in Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenAPI.
  • Soft Skills: Solution-oriented mindset, customer-focused communication skills, and ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team in an international multicultural environment.
