Postdoctoral Research Assistant for the Computational Oncology Group

We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join our Computational Oncology Group at the Spanish National Cancer Centre (CNIO). The successful candidate will work closely with our team to develop computational approaches to help guide the chemoprevention of cancer.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and apply computational algorithms to decompose patterns of chromosomal instability at an unprecedented resolution and at different timepoints of tumour evolution.
- Analyse whole genome sequence data to identify different types of chromosomal instability and match them with targeted therapies.
- Design and implement new AI methodologies to process sequencing data from >50,000 tumour genomes.
- Characterise new CIN signatures by integrating orthogonal data and elucidate the underlying biology of the new CIN signatures.
- Design a web-based tool for leveraging these advances, assisting users to accurately identify and quantify mutational processes operating in new tumour samples.
- PhD degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, mathematics, physics or statistics.
- Proven expertise in bioinformatics, particularly in cancer genomics, tumour evolution and mutational signature analysis.
- Experience in analysing whole genome sequence data.
- Coding experience (preferably in R and python).
- Experience with high performance and/or cloud computing.
- Manuscript writing.
- English.
