Postdoctoral Research Assistant for Computational Oncology

The Computational Oncology Group at the Spanish National Cancer Centre (CNIO) is seeking a highly skilled postdoctoral researcher to join our team. As a postdoctoral research assistant, you will play a key role in developing computational approaches to guide the chemoprevention of cancer.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and apply computational algorithms to analyze whole-genome sequencing data from 50,000 tumour genomes
  • Design and implement new AI methodologies to process sequencing data and decompose patterns of chromosomal instability
  • Characterise new signatures by integrating orthogonal data and elucidate the underlying biology of chromosomal instability
  • Design a web-based tool for leveraging these advances and assisting users to accurately identify and quantify mutational processes operating in new tumour samples
Requirements:
  • PhD degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, mathematics, physics or statistics
  • Proven expertise in bioinformatics, particularly in cancer genomics, tumour evolution and mutational signature analysis
  • Experience in analysing whole genome sequence data and coding experience in R and Python
  • Experience with high performance and/or cloud computing
  • Excellent manuscript writing skills
What We Offer:
  • A supportive, flexible and fun working environment
  • Opportunities to work closely with lab members and clinical collaborators across Spain and the UK
  • Access to state-of-the-art computational resources and facilities
  • Professional development opportunities and training

We welcome applications from talented and motivated individuals who are passionate about research and committed to translating their work for patient benefit. If you are interested in joining our team and contributing to the development of innovative computational approaches for cancer research, please submit your application.
