Position: Commodity Specialist

Focus Area: Facility Services and Utilities Management

We are seeking a German-speaking professional to join our Global Sourcing team. This role involves developing and executing sourcing strategies for the categories of Facility Services and Utilities Management. A deep understanding of the supply market, supplier sourcing, risk management, and performance evaluation is essential to meet Kennametal's objectives in Delivery, Quality, and Cost.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee Key Metrics & Outcomes, including Ethics, Total Cost Reduction, and Strategic Sourcing Strategies aimed at identifying improvements and executing plans for enhancement.
  • Manage the strategy and execution for Facility Services and Utilities, focusing on supplier performance and relationship management.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to build strong partnerships that support procurement targets while optimizing costs and ensuring compliance.
  • Identify and onboard new suppliers in alignment with the commodity strategy, managing the supplier selection process.
  • Conduct market analysis to stay informed about potential changes within the assigned commodity, including new entrants and technologies.
  • Utilize market data to create various pricing and service models, enhancing strategic understanding and decision-making.
  • Lead cross-functional projects, negotiate pricing and contracts, and continually seek opportunities to optimize procurement costs.
  • Monitor the overall Quality, Delivery, and Cost (QDC) performance of the commodity and implement improvement actions as necessary.
  • Facilitate annual Business Review Meetings with key suppliers.
  • Support Operations in accordance with the escalation process, acting as a liaison between manufacturing sites and the Sourcing organization.
  • Partner with the Global Sourcing Functional Excellence Team to ensure best practices and tools are effectively implemented across the region.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in strategic procurement or category management, specifically in Facility Services and Utilities.
  • Proficient in English and German; additional languages are advantageous.
  • Experience with SAP or other ERP systems.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field such as Business, Supply Chain, or Engineering.
  • Strong negotiation skills, goal-oriented mindset, and proactive approach.
  • Business Acumen: Ability to prioritize and establish strategic direction.
  • Performance Measurement: Understand internal processes and external market segments to align objectives with stakeholders.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Ability to understand and meet internal customer needs effectively.
  • Data Management: Proficient in analytics and data organization for informed decision-making.
  • Project Management: Capable of designing and managing projects to deliver value within defined parameters.
  • Financial Analysis: Skilled in analyzing cost structures and understanding financial impacts of decisions.
