The Opportunity
This position is part of the Quality Assurance Team at Abbott's Manufacturing Plant, working in the Nutrition division. Our nutrition business develops science-based nutrition products for people of all ages, from helping babies and children grow, to keeping adult bodies strong and active.
Millions of people around the world count on our leading brands, including Similac, PediaSure, Pedialyte, Ensure, Glucerna, and ZonePerfect, to help them get the nutrients they need to live their healthiest life.
As the Quality Excellence Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to improve the performance of the Quality Department and collaborating in the implementation of Quality-related improvement plans at the Plant level.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement quality improvement plans at the Granada QA Department and the Plant, in coordination with the Divisional Quality Excellence position, according to the Divisional Quality Excellence strategy.
- Coordinate and gather all Quality-related information for the Plant Monthly Business Review Meetings.
- Understand and supervise the performance of Key Performance Indicators related to the Quality Performance of the plant.
- Develop and maintain specific Key Performance Indicators of the QA Department.
- Develop and maintain a system to track and trend composition deviations for ingredients, intermediates, and finish products.
- Based on this system, establish strategies to minimize potential composition Out Of Specification scenarios.
- Apply problem-solving methodologies in identifying, prioritizing, communicating, and resolving quality issues.
- Lead and implement continuous improvement methodologies or projects, such as Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing, in the QA Department.
- Collaborate in identifying cost reduction opportunities based on ingredient and formula composition.
- Bachelor's Degree in Food Technology or other related sciences.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in Manufacturing / QA / R&D in the Nutrition Industry.
- Advanced computer skills, including statistics and data mining.
- Experience implementing improvement methodologies, such as Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing.
- Advanced English.
