The ZeNeuroid project aims to create a standardized and automated human-based neural organoid network on-a-chip for drug screening purposes. Our team at the Universitat de Barcelona is responsible for developing the microphysiological platforms using microfabrication technologies and validating them.
We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to validate the technologies with iPSC-derived neuronal cell lines and 3D neural network cultures, perform connectivity studies, adapt the 3D cultures to the microphysiological platform, and characterize neural activity and connectivity using calcium imaging techniques.
The selected candidate will work closely with our industrial partner, ZeClinics, who is responsible for developing the biological model of the neural organoids.
The postdoctoral researcher will also be responsible for the scientific management of the project, including co-supervising other students and research assistants working on the project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Validate microfabrication technologies with iPSC-derived neuronal cell lines and 3D neural network cultures
- Perform connectivity studies and adapt 3D cultures to the microphysiological platform
- Characterize neural activity and connectivity using calcium imaging techniques
- Co-supervise students and research assistants working on the project
Requirements:
- PhD in a relevant field (e.g. neuroscience, biomedical engineering, materials science)
- Experience with microfabrication technologies and neural tissue engineering
- Strong background in neuroscience and neural networks
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
