Position Overview:
The Mobile and Wireless Internet (MWI) division at Fundació i2CAT is seeking a skilled Engineer / Researcher to engage in various projects alongside the public sector's innovation sector. This role encompasses the design, integration, and technical execution of pioneering use cases.
Key Projects:
One notable initiative is the "TDA 5G Rural" project, where we are actively implementing a range of 5G technology-related use cases in rural settings. Some tests are conducted in our 5G laboratory, which serves as a hub for the European XGain project's drone pilot.
Recent projects include the integration of cellular communication (4G/5G) with satellite (Starlink) aggregation systems for applications such as mobile citizen service offices and mobile Primary Care Centers (CAP). We have also assessed public 5G connectivity in the Ebre territory and investigated millimeter-wave technologies for point-to-point connections in rural areas.
Responsibilities:
- Radio Component Integration: Configuring and integrating cellular modems/CPEs (4G, 5G), Wi-Fi modems/NICs, IoT devices (LoRA, NB-IoT, etc.), and other emerging technologies.
- Practical Testing: Deploying, measuring, validating, and demonstrating use cases to ensure their effectiveness and efficiency.
- Results Evaluation: Analyzing and interpreting results to facilitate informed decision-making and continuous improvement of projects.

- Proficiency in digital tools for document editing.
- Willingness to travel within the Catalan territory for tests or meetings.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in teams.
- Proficiency in Catalan and Spanish.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge in managing small to medium-scale infrastructures.
- Valid driver's license for travel within the Catalan territory.
- Effective communication skills in English.
