Senior Technical Animator

Scopely is seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Animator to contribute to the development of our upcoming cross-platform Strategy/MMO title. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for creating high-quality character rigs, implementing models and animations into our game engine, and developing tools and tech to improve the animation pipeline.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create and maintain character rigs, ensuring high visual quality and optimization for performance.
  • Implement models and animations into our game engine, taking ownership of your work and collaborating with the programming and art disciplines.
  • Develop and maintain tools and tech for artists and animators to improve the animation pipeline, using scripting languages like MEL and Python.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot all aspects of the animation pipeline, ensuring seamless integration with other game development processes.
  • Document processes and tools for the team and external partners, promoting knowledge sharing and best practices.
  • Mentor and inspire team members, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
Requirements:
  • At least 1 complete development cycle of a published game title as a Technical Artist/Animator in the games industry.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating your animation rigs and rigging tool development for games.
  • Expert knowledge of Maya or equivalent, specializing in rigging/skinning.
  • In-depth experience working with animation graphs and state machines.
  • Experience and proficiency working with game engines like Unity or Unreal.
  • A good understanding of game animation pipelines, current technologies, and platform limitations.
  • Strong creative and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Superior communication, organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with an IP.
  • Experience with fighting/combat system development.
  • Experience with programming and scripting languages like C# or C++.
  • A passion for games.
