About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled Economist Researcher to join our team at Universidad Politécnica De Madrid. As a key member of our research group, you will play a crucial role in analyzing economic models that enable city councils to evaluate the costs and benefits of investing in actions that reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze economic models to assess the feasibility of decarbonization projects in European mission cities.
  • Develop and improve the structure of the main economic model used in NetZeroCities, incorporating modeling hypotheses and data collected in cities.
  • Participate in the development of financial models for the implementation of decarbonization projects, ensuring accurate financial analysis and procurement of funding.
  • Support cities in building strategic plans for decarbonization, including financial analysis and procurement of funding.
  • Contribute to capacity-building programs to train city officials and other actors in the use of economic and financial models.
  • Evaluate city performance in relation to their Climate Neutrality Action Plans and Investment Plans.
  • Participate in and organize weekly alignment meetings with consortium partners.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Economics, Finance, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in projects related to finance and/or accounting.
  • Excellent knowledge of economic modeling and data analysis.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to present complex ideas synthetically.
  • Understanding of systemic thinking and the complexity of urban systems and sustainable transitions.
