Job Opportunity at Universitat de Barcelona
We are seeking highly motivated PhD researchers to join our team at the Universitat de Barcelona, Faculty of Biology, Department of Cellular Biology, Physiology and Immunology. Our research group is focused on understanding the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying the development and growth of fish, with a particular emphasis on aquaculture.
Project Overview
We have been awarded two research projects: Towards the Sustainable Production of Robust and Resilient Juvenile Sea Bass in a Climate Change Scenario and Integrative Breeding Strategies for the Transition of EUropean AQUAculture towards Sustainable ORGanic Production (EUAqua.Org). These projects aim to develop novel approaches for improving the sustainability and efficiency of aquaculture production, with a focus on the use of stable isotopes and organic diets.
Research Objectives
The successful candidates will be responsible for conducting research in the following areas:
- Applying stable isotopes methodologies to estimate physiological status in individual fish
- Characterizing novel organic diets for aquaculture using physiological, genetic, and isotopic approaches
- Developing and implementing breeding strategies for the improvement of aquaculture production
Requirements
We are looking for highly motivated and talented individuals with a strong background in molecular and cellular biology, aquaculture, or a related field. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in a relevant field and experience in research and development of novel approaches for improving aquaculture production.
