Our Product: SimpliFID

SimpliFID is an Aerodrome Flight Information Service (AFIS) that offers a range of functionalities similar to a radar system at a fraction of the costs. Built using Rust, Python, and TypeScript, it sources data from ADB-S and Mode-S Secondary Surveillance Radar (SSR) systems over Asterix CAT021 Surveillance Data Exchange protocol.

Current Status and Future Plans

Currently, SimpliFID is being certified and deployed in 6 small to mid-sized airports, with another 15+ planned for the near future. Our main focus is on scalability, security, and additional internal projects around real-time data services.

Job Description

We are seeking an exceptional DevOps and Platform Engineer to join our team and focus on Kubernetes (EKS) and Terraform on AWS. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Managing the DataBeacon platform using K8s manifests and kustomize + Helm
  • Provisioning infrastructure using Terraform
  • Working with a small and highly motivated team of engineers
  • Participating in company technical decisions and roadmap
  • Having the space to experiment and try-out new exciting technologies
  • Having minimal administrative overhead and the possibility to create a real impact

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • At least 1+ years of professional experience in DevOps, automation, CD/CI, observability, and reliability
  • At least 1+ years of experience with AWS Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS)
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and terragrunt
  • A good command of English and good communication skills
  • Location in Madrid or surroundings

Nice to Have

The following skills are a plus:

  • Fundamentals of operating systems, databases, and networking
  • Experience as a database administrator or Linux OS in general
  • Proficiency in Python and/or Rust programming languages
  • Professional experience in highly regulated sectors
  • Affinity for aviation in general
