Overview:

The Advanced Customer Support (CSS) division at Oracle is dedicated to fostering enduring support and managed service partnerships with many of Oracle's prominent clients.

CSS Service Solution Consultants (SSCs) serve as presales experts in enhanced support and managed services. They collaborate closely with the CSS sales teams during sales initiatives, engaging with senior stakeholders within both existing and prospective Oracle clients. Utilizing their extensive background in IT support and managed services, they capture client requirements, thoroughly explore all viable options, and develop persuasive service offerings. The SSCs concentrate on service solutions for Oracle cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments, including innovative and intricate custom needs.

Typically, CSS SSCs possess a proven history of successfully delivering IT services in mission-critical settings and are well-versed in presales scenarios. They have comprehensive expertise in mission-critical production operations, support, and managed services, along with substantial industry experience in areas such as IT infrastructure, databases, applications, and cloud technologies. CSS SSCs are familiar with standard service management practices (ITIL, DevOps, etc.) and project management methodologies.

In addition to their broad experience in IT services and technologies, each SSC usually has specialized knowledge in specific service or technology domains, acting as the subject-matter expert within the team.

CSS SSCs should also have experience in service commercial propositions concerning pricing, approvals, legal matters, and contracting.

All CSS SSCs exhibit exceptional customer-facing presentation and interaction skills, capable of engaging with senior management and C-level executives, articulating service and technology solutions in terms of business value and risk.

EXPERIENCE:

CSS SSCs typically have over 10 years of experience in relevant IT services across a diverse range of technologies and customer sectors.

A typical profile for successful candidates in this role would encompass most, if not all, of the following:

  • Over 10 years in IT services, including significant direct experience in service roles within external IT service providers
  • Comprehensive understanding of standard enterprise applications and IT infrastructures, including public and on-premises cloud, particularly Oracle technologies
  • Experience in a presales role within an IT service provider
  • General experience in IT services, service operations, and service management, including managed services and outsourcing
  • IT project and program management experience, including transformation, migration, and solution deployment projects
  • Commercial and contract management experience, including the construction and negotiation of pricing and custom contracts for complex service offerings
  • Sales and complex deal negotiation experience
  • Designing, implementing, and delivering complex service solutions for various mission-critical IT environments
  • Consulting and trusted-advisor roles within major client organizations regarding IT services
  • Proven ability to create and deliver compelling presentations and proposals to diverse audiences
  • Managing multiple IT service bids concurrently

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify, cultivate, and define Oracle CSS service solutions for specific client opportunities and assist in the sales process alongside the CSS sales representative
  • Collaborate with the client, CSS management, and cross-line-of-business account teams to: Understand the client's business and IT strategic needs and identify large-scale CSS opportunities to help the client achieve its strategic objectives Gather and evaluate client requirements, both business and technical, and translate these into CSS service solutions Build and lead virtual teams associated with these large-scale opportunities
  • Communicate effectively with clients to articulate both the high-level principles and detailed components of all service elements in a proposed client solution
  • Foster client loyalty by establishing a trusted advisor relationship
  • Proactively build and leverage an effective and extensive network across Oracle cross-line-of-business units – be recognized, respected, and sought after across Oracle as a high-value asset and subject-matter expert in service solutions
  • Collaborate effectively internally and externally to ensure efficient service solution design and development
  • Drive compelling proposals, presentations, and other communications during opportunities
  • Manage service solution costing and pricing associated with specific opportunities, ensuring that proposed service solutions meet Oracle's commercial and contracting requirements
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the competitive landscape in IT services
  • Collaborate with various groups, including sales, delivery, clients, risk management, business development, contracts, commercial, and product management
  • Work with CSS delivery throughout the sales cycle to ensure a seamless transition from sales to delivery
  • Navigate Oracle's internal tools and processes to effectively participate in and enable CSS sales
  • Transfer knowledge to other participants in the deal, account teams, delivery, and across the CSS Service Solution Architect community
