The Solar Technician will travel to job sites around the defined service area and help build and maintain solar, battery storage, and electric vehicle infrastructure. The technician must be competent and qualified to work on electrical and/or mechanical components of Renewable Energy assets. The Solar Technician may take part in full system installation, commissioning, maintenance, system performance evaluation and troubleshooting of power and energy systems.
Key Responsibilities:- Ensure a safe working environment by adhering to all Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on utility, rooftop, and energy storage system assets to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
- Document all maintenance activities, including completion of maintenance logs, work orders, service reports, and safety documentation.
- Utilize electrical testing equipment, including multimeters, meggers, thermal imagery, and perform torque tests and performance evaluations.
- Implement Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) plans and procedures, including energizing/de-energizing procedures, to ensure safe working practices.
- Interpret schematics and blueprints to understand system configurations and requirements.
- Conduct quality assurance checklists and inspections to identify deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
- Adhere to OEM-specific maintenance requirements, as well as company standards and industry best practices, such as NETA MTS and CSA Z463.
- Work collaboratively in a team-based environment and independently as necessary to achieve project goals.
- Participate in on-call weekend services on a rotating schedule to ensure 24/7 support.
- Identify and provide feedback on issues and ongoing development of projects to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Be willing to work overtime as needed to meet project deadlines and requirements.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including buildings, vegetation, fences, gates, roads, and ensure spare parts inventory is organized and clean.
