About the Role

Skydance Media is a dynamic and innovative company that offers a unique opportunity for pioneers in the animation industry to push the boundaries of storytelling and technology. As a Lead Technical Director, you will play a crucial role in guiding a development and support team in building innovative tools for the production teams to efficiently create animated films.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with artists and production management to develop and refine tools and processes for feature film production.
  • Partner with engineers to iterate, debug, document, and refine tools and processes.
  • Act as the first point of contact for day-to-day technical issues and provide support to artists.
  • Report to the TD Supervisor on the status of technical development projects, tool performance, production operations, and support statuses.
  • Continuously examine production's user experiences, satisfaction, and level of understanding to identify areas of improvement to the production pipelines.
  • Stay up-to-date with current artistic methodologies and technology trends to develop a stronger creative and technical environment.
  • Provide guidance and instruction to team members to contribute to their artistic and professional growth.
Requirements
  • 6+ years of experience in the VFX or animation industries.
  • 1+ year of experience in the animation industry.
  • BS degree in Computer Science or a similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Deep understanding of 3D animated film production pipelines and workflows.
  • Expertise in Python and experience building tools for Maya, Houdini, and Nuke.
  • Experience with Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • Experience with C++ and version control systems (Git) is a plus.
  • Ability to document digital processes and technical solutions.
  • Practical knowledge of continuous delivery and agile methodologies.
  • Advanced English language skills.
  • Spanish oral and written skills are desirable.
