Lead Security Engineer for Application Protection - Focus on Incident Analysis

Become a pivotal member of our team at Oracle as a Lead Security Engineer specializing in Incident Analysis. In this capacity, you will work closely with our Security Operations Center (SOC) team, taking charge of in-depth investigations into logs and code during security incidents. Your insights will be invaluable for Incident Responders, helping to outline the most effective remediation strategies for our development teams. Your expertise will play a crucial role in strengthening the security of our cloud services and fostering best practices across Oracle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee incident investigations, ensuring effective collaboration among teams for prompt resolution of events.
  • Improve existing detection mechanisms and create new ones through proactive threat hunting.
  • Lead purple team exercises across various applications to enhance our detection and response capabilities.
  • Partner with Development and Security teams to formulate optimal strategies for addressing active security incidents.
  • Implement signature-based detection and mitigation strategies in Web Application Firewalls (WAF) and Runtime Application Self-Protection (RASP) solutions to strengthen our web application security.
  • Design and manage tools and automation to optimize workflows.
  • Provide Application Security-specific assistance to the SOC.
  • Refine the Incident Detection and Response processes and enhance internal workflows.
  • Participate in cross-training initiatives and continuous learning within and across focus areas.
  • Conduct proactive research to remain informed about the latest threats and tactics, translating findings into actionable insights for our detection and response strategies.
  • Collaborate with Application Security management on program strategy, team development, and addressing overarching security challenges.
Qualifications & Skills
  • 4+ years of experience in Software Development, Security Engineering, or Incident Response.
  • Proficient in using logging tools such as OpenSearch or Elastic.
  • Familiarity with WAF operations and implementations.
  • Strong background in Application Security and/or Software Development.
  • Experience in Incident Response or a keen willingness to learn.
  • Exemplifies strong ethics and a solid understanding of ethical considerations in information security.
  • Ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative environment.
  • Effective task management skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, tailored for both technical and executive audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Programming experience in languages such as Java, JavaScript, Python, PHP, Perl, Ruby, among others.
  • Educational background in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields.
  • Skills in project coordination and management.
  • Expertise in designing and implementing complex workflows.
  • Familiarity with application security projects (e.g., OWASP Top 10), tools (such as ZAP, Burp), and secure software development principles.
  • Industry certifications and ongoing education programs are highly regarded.
  • Experience or familiarity with various Application Security activities like threat modeling, penetration testing, code reviews, and more.
