Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with leadership and key personnel in Intelligent Automation to develop tailored automation roadmaps that incorporate digital solutions and machine learning, while leveraging common technical solutions across various sites.
- Partner with technical systems engineers to design and implement strategies for process optimization aimed at enhancing efficiency, reducing cycle times, and improving product quality.
- Work closely with manufacturing teams to conduct thorough analyses of existing processes, identifying improvement opportunities and recommending suitable technological solutions. This includes completing project charters, risk analyses, feasibility studies, and validation processes.
- Design and conduct laboratory experiments, pilot studies, and oversee technology transfer initiatives. Manage external contractors and vendors involved in process development.
- Collaborate with team members and other necessary functions to create and implement playbooks for the adoption and replication of intelligent automation technologies.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise to address process-related challenges, enhance overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), and drive root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Maintain strong relationships with counterparts in various departments, ensuring timely alignment of strategies and objectives.
- Mentor and develop engineering capabilities to support the ongoing evolution of intelligent automation technologies through skills assessment and training initiatives.
- Ensure that selected automation solutions deliver value by enhancing asset utilization, improving OEE, optimizing labor, and elevating customer satisfaction.
- Stay abreast of the latest scientific and technical advancements in the industry to maintain a high level of expertise.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing/Process Engineering, or Computer Engineering/Software Systems.
- At least 15 years of progressive engineering experience in manufacturing, automation design, technology transfer, and project engineering, preferably in regulated industries.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in intelligent automation solutions and digital transformations, including machine learning and robotics.
- Strong understanding of process optimization techniques, lean manufacturing principles, and statistical analysis.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex process issues.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to influence decision-making.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel 25% to 30% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing/Process Engineering, or Computer Engineering/Software Systems.
- Project Management training or certification.
- Industry 4.0 training or certification.
- Proficiency in process analysis and simulation software.
- Familiarity with process improvement methodologies such as Kaizen and Value Stream Mapping.
- Knowledge of automation and control systems, including SCADA and PLC.
