About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Architect to join our team at New Relic. As a key member of our database platform team, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our database infrastructure to support our growing business needs.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design and Implement Database Systems: Develop and deploy highly scalable and reliable database systems using MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, and Kubernetes.
  2. Write Optimized Code: Write efficient and optimized code to build tools and applications that facilitate database management and orchestration.
  3. Monitor and Optimize Databases: Monitor and optimize databases to ensure high availability, performance, and security.
  4. Develop Automation Scripts: Develop automation scripts for database and Kubernetes-related tasks such as provisioning, backup, scaling, and monitoring.
  5. Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration with other systems and services.
Requirements
  1. 4+ Years of Experience: 4+ years of extensive experience running highly scalable databases and database infrastructure.
  2. Education and Certifications: BS/MS in Computer Science, or education/experience in a relevant field.
  3. Cloud and Kubernetes Expertise: Experience with Kubernetes, including developing and maintaining controllers, and knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and their managed database services (e.g., RDS, Amazon Aurora).
  4. Programming Skills: Experience in software development using Go, and experience with containerization technologies (Docker).
  5. Infrastructure as Code: Experience in infrastructure as code frameworks (Terraform).
  6. Agile Methodologies: Experience working with Agile methodologies.
  7. Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving skills to address and resolve sophisticated database-related issues.
  8. Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing with a passion for growth and collaboration.
  9. Language Skills: Working proficiency and communication skills in verbal and written English.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Database Expertise: Proficiency in MySQL, PostgreSQL, and/or Redis including schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning.
  2. Cloud DBaaS Experience: Experience in cloud DBaaS production environments.
  3. Cloud Service Control: Familiarity with Crossplane or similar tools for controlling cloud-managed services.
  4. Linux Operating System: Solid understanding of the Linux operating system and concepts such as virtual machines and containers.
