Overview and Purpose
The Operations Division is responsible for the seamless daily operation of the Spanish Supercomputing Network's supercomputers, facilitating remote access for users both domestically and internationally. In addition to routine maintenance and operational tasks, our team is actively engaged in the planning and design of new systems and support infrastructures.

We are currently seeking a dedicated High-Performance Computing Support Engineer. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about technology and Linux, who are eager to learn the fundamentals of HPC and develop into a specialist and vital team member. Our work environment is collaborative and supportive, fostering positive interactions among team members.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Address issues encountered by users of the Spanish Supercomputing Network (RES) during their computational tasks, and assist them in optimizing their applications for efficient resource utilization.
  • Collaborate with the User Support and Applications Consulting team to monitor application performance and enhance parallel optimization.
  • Innovate new solutions aimed at improving the user experience when utilizing HPC resources.
  • Develop automated solutions to streamline incident resolution and requests, enhancing the team's daily operations.
Qualifications
  • Educational Background
    • Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Required Skills and Experience
    • Proficiency in Linux operating systems.
    • Familiarity with parallel programming models (such as MPI, OpenMP, threads) is beneficial but not mandatory.
    • Knowledge of MySQL, Python, and Bash scripting is preferred.
  • Personal Attributes
    • Ability to foster strong relationships and collaborate effectively within the team.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Proficient in English.

Employment Conditions
  • This position is based within the Operations Division.
